Electronics and batteries · three streams, filed separately

The box, the electronics and the cell

are three different obligations.

A Bluetooth speaker in a cardboard box is three streams, not one. Packaging goes to the packaging scheme, electronics to the WEEE register, batteries to the battery register. Mixing them is the most common reason a file comes back.

One product, boxed3 files

  1. Packaging The box it ships in, the filler and the label
  2. WEEE The electronics inside it (waste electrical and electronic equipment)
  3. Batteries The cell that powers it, sealed in or not
  4. Textiles Not in scope for this product

Three registrations, three schemes, three declaration calendars. Per country.

Which of your products count

A cell inside a device is its own registration.

Packaging is usually the first stream you file, and the other two are the ones this table is for. The row that catches people out is the third: a battery sealed inside a product is a battery obligation, separate from the electronics it powers.

Example products and the streams each one triggers. Indicative: a person checks product classification before any quote.
Product Packaging WEEE Batteries Textiles Files
A boxed Bluetooth speaker Applies Applies Applies Not in scope for this product 3
A USB wall charger Applies Applies Not in scope for this product Not in scope for this product 2
A cordless vacuum with a built-in pack Applies Applies Applies Not in scope for this product 3
A spare lithium cell, sold on its own Applies Not in scope for this product Applies Not in scope for this product 2
  • Triggers this stream: its own register, its own scheme
  • Not in scope for this product, which is not the same as not started

Indicative. Product classification is one of the things a person checks before any quote, and it is where a file most often goes wrong.

Where we can back it

Packaging in 10 countries. Batteries in 10.

A filled cell means we hold a documented source for that country and that stream. An empty one means we don't hold one yet, not that there is no obligation. The difference is yours to know before you pay.

  • Packaging

    10 / 10 countries we run

Every product you ship has packaging, so packaging almost always counts: the box, the filler and the label included.

  • WEEE

    10 / 10 countries we run

Anything electrical or electronic adds WEEE, from a lamp to a laptop.

  • Batteries

    10 / 10 countries we run

Anything with a cell or a battery adds batteries, including one sealed inside a device.

  • Textiles

    2 / 10 countries we run

Clothing and household textiles add textile EPR, in the countries that have it.

If your battery obligation sits in a country where we don't hold a battery source yet, the scope check shows it as a stream with no source, not as covered. A person says so before anyone quotes you. See the table country by country

What three streams cost

Three streams in one country is one fee.

Our fee is per country, not per stream, per product line or per registration. A seller who owes packaging alone and a seller who owes packaging, WEEE and batteries in the same country pay the same. The work differs, the price does not.

One country, one boxed speaker

  1. Packaging registration and declaration
  2. WEEE registration and declaration
  3. Battery registration and declaration

Three registers, three schemes, three calendars.

Our fee for that country

€299per year, per country

Before scheme and authority fees.

What the schemes charge is three separate bills, from three separate bodies, on your volumes and your materials. We never mark them up and we can't quote them.

Tell us what's in the box. We'll tell you how many files that is.

The scope check asks what you ship and where. You'll get an indicative map of country and stream on screen, including the streams where we don't hold a source yet. That is the part you would rather find out now.
